Fire Of Unknown Origin

For The Vocal "The Last Flame" Challenge

Detail From The Blue Öyster Cult Album Cover

Introduction

I took the title from the Blue Öyster Cult album title track and thought it would be a great analogy for the way I felt about almost losing my Vocal account.

I will use a straight villanelle for this

Fire Of Unknown Origin

🚨🔥♨️🔥♨️🔥🚨

Unknown Hands Are Burning My Words

Discarded Matches On The Floor

Leaving Ashes, Shredding My Nerves

♨️🔥♨️

In Fire And Flame My Work Has Burned

The Pages Of My Life Are Torn

Unknown Hands Are Burning My Words

♨️🔥♨️

Just Smoke And Ashes In A Blur

My House Destroyed I'm Out The Door

Leaving Ashes, Shredding My Nerves

♨️🔥♨️

So Much Destruction, It's Absurd

Stories Fragile, Written No More

Unknown Hands Are Burning My Words

♨️🔥♨️

Looking For Hope But The Fire Burn

My Mind Is Screaming, Cease, No More

Leaving Ashes, Shredding My Nerves

Wont Walk Away, I Will Return

My Tales On Paper Wings Will Soar

Unknown Hands Are Burning My Words

This is a really excellent take on the challenge. I enjoyed the imagery it was very powerful, glad to see you back, and I think you did a good job addressing what was incredibly frustrating.

I loved the imagery you wove into this piece and the emotional refrain "unknown hands are burning my words." I do think this is one of my favorites of your work, perhaps because I understand your struggle this past month that inspired it. Beautifully written.

Always great work Mr. Mike and this is a poem that inspires us all to just keep writing whatever we write.

What an interesting exercise! I had a really bad experience with my voice recorder when I tried to do a stream of consciousness entry a few months ago, but you've inspired me to try again! :)
