Forgotten memories reappear

The sound of first frost

Forgotten memories re-appear

cold crisp air

nips the skin of my nose

hiding in my warm bed

as my mood dips

avoiding my emotions

my skin

from being exposed

the tightness

I carry in my body

my finger tips

crinkled and numb

a small reminder

that our warmth

crackles from the inside

you can’t skip a beat

without one

the fresh minty scent

tears through my room

whispering in me

that life’s to be enjoyed

Not another minute

spent in this dark mourning

Snapping life back into me

as I step out of this icy void
