She thought she wanted Hollywood

The bright lights, the fame

The crimson carpet

Calling her name.

She thought she wanted Hollywood.

The adoration, popularity

No more living in obscurity

She thought she wanted Hollywood.

A summer beach house

A marvelous mansion,

Just beyond the city lights.

She thought she wanted Hollywood

But then she found out the truth;

Hollywood is dead.

Everything you think you know

The media, the news, the tabloids

The gossip and rumors traveling around

Suffocating every last breath

Every last hopeful childhood memory,

Is now forgotten in the past.

Hollywood is now out of her grasp.

Once you know, once you learn

This place is no longer something

of which she yearns

It's now nothing more than a distant memory;

a forgotten American Dream---

Hollywood is dead.

Hollywood is dead.
