I Have to Let You Go

The realization it is over

Everywhere and nowhere,

Not even somewhere in between,

I gave you everything I had,

And you took it and stripped me clean.

I told that I loved you,

A long silence was your reply,

Now I must let you go,

Now, it is time to say goodbye.

πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”

You’re everywhere and nowhere,

You betrayed me and just walked away.

And now you don’t seem to care,

Left me with memories of yesterday.

I don't know who this person is,

That I once knew so well,

Now it’s time to let you go,

I have to escape this living hell.

πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”

What happened to that ray of light,

Appearing on our wedding day?

I guess it has just burned out,

Or maybe it just shines for someone else?

I know that it's not me today.

So now it's time to let you go,

This time I have to say goodbye.

πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”

What happened to that promise of love,

For better or for worse?

The vows we took, the love we shared,

I guess they’ve run their course.

You will always have a special place,

So now it’s time to shelve my remorse,

But some things cannot be repaired,

I'll give you your divorce.

I have to let you go. …..

πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”

Till next time,

Calvin

This is so sad, Calvin, I could barely read it. Yet, it was beautiful. I knew your wife was sick, but did something else happen?

  • Thank you, Angie. If only it wasn't true πŸ˜’πŸ˜’

  • Heartbreakingly beautiful.

These words carry a lot of pain, flowing like a river!! Hope you're doing well, Sir 😊

Poetically, this poem is beautiful even in the immense sadness it carries in every word. Many times I question myself why I sometimes find sad poetry beautiful. It makes no sense to me. Yet, that’s what I think about this. It’s terribly sad, yet very beautiful. I think what I mean is that the expression of the heartbreak and sadness are painted almost like a work of art.

You've captured the pain of letting go with such honesty here.
