If I Happen to Be Reborn....

Longing for the Peace and Power of Trees

If I Happen to Be Reborn...

Sometimes I think like this:

If we have any reason to be reborn, what would I like to be? After thinking about it, I feel that surviving once in this lifetime is more than enough. If I didn’t decide to, do we really have to live again?

But I keep asking myself, and the same answer stops me from thinking more deeply.

Not too long ago, I visited a place surrounded by nature. I sat there and just looked around, marveling at how beautiful and peaceful it was. Our everyday atmosphere can’t bring the same feeling.

I sat there for a while, and this question kept lingering in my mind: "If you happen to be reborn, what would be your wish?" At that time, I ignored it because I just wanted peace—something I desperately wanted.

After a small walk, I saw a tree. This tree wasn’t just a tree to me; it looked like a majestic Queen in forest. I wondered how something non-living could attract our attention so much. How could it be so tall, dense, and awe-inspiring? The question lingered in my mind again: what would I want to be?

After a while, in deep silence, it came to me: Aha! Yes, I want this.

If I happen to be reborn, I want to be a tree.

A stable being, never needing to move. Long, strong roots buried in the earth so deeply that no one can move me. A dense body, like a majestic Queen in palace, commanding respect. Branches spreading out like a Maleficent Queen caring for all her subjects, with flowers decorating her reign. Fruits nourishing all, ensuring even the smallest creatures thrive under her care. More and more people living peacefully in her shadow. No thunder, rain, or lightning penetrating her protection.

Yes, I want to live that majestic life at least once. If I happen to be reborn, I wish to be a tree.

A Tree.
