Kona

You make our hearts complete...

By Krysha ThayerPublished 5 months ago 1 min read
Kona the Husky next to his favorite stuffed bear

The first we saw your face-

...so sad...

...so stressed...

...so pensive...

...and so forlorn...

huddled beneath a desk,

the office cramped.

A plea for a foster,

if not an adopter,

someone to take this poor soul home.

*

Found on the streets

wandering lost

(who knows how long)

...too thin...

...too quiet...

...too sick...

...and too tired...

*

But we knew in our hearts

that our home would be yours.

We brought you home

...to heal...

...to love...

...to cherish...

...and to spoil...

until you would be happy

and so would we,

our hearts complete...

with you now a part of our family.

Tired after playing in the pillows and with his toys.

ABOUT KONA:

My boyfriend and I adopted Kona from the local humane society when he was picked up as a stray. Since then he has recovered from heartworms and gotten a clean bill of health from the vet. He's also made friends with many of the neighbors whom he loves to stop to see on his many walks every day, especially those at the care home. He's truly been a blessing to us and has made our fur-baby family complete.

Krysha, I have three, and one's adopted, so I understand the sentiment all too well. This was a beauty. And they do bring smiles, don't they?

  • He is beautiful! I'm so glad you brought him into your lives.

We picked our first dopg from a pound, and fell in love the moment we saw her. Yet now she is gone I cannot fathom having another dog. This is beautifully written
