A Strategy on Vanishing

First

Observe

You are

No one

A guttering flame in endless night

Frail breath unable to blow

The sand away from

Worn inscriptions

On broken pedestals

Then you must consider the

Coldness of your fellows

You are a ghost already

To most people you pass

Abstract flesh and mixed fabrics

Momentarily blocking their view

Of a black Lamborghini

A car they've only seen in pictures

Parked at the pharmacy

Across a midtown street

Wrap yourself in mist

Fade to the edge of sight

Cast no shadow on sun-winked chrome

Next

Cut the threads of your communions

Dissolve your kin's blooded bonds

Pour out the vial of ancestral maladies

Take up the rusted knife and strike

Infect your House with

The virus that turns

Hearts into dead antennae

And then what are you

But a name on glowing glass

Or merely a string of digits

Clots of pixels seen only by

Reddened eyes in scrambled heads

The last shoots of your curated facet

Sprout misshapen in digital wastes

Uproot them and let them wither

Burn their aberrant fruits in the furnace

Now

You hang

Weightless

A drop of water

A mote of dust

Return to the sea's depths

Let the earth eat you

Dark on dark and velvet

A new mantle the

Color of silence
