Subdue that pit in your stomach, and doubt

The dreadful feeling that something is wrong.

Reach down into your pocket, bring it out,

The blue light. Shh, relax, your show is on.

-

Turn, sweet one, into the eternity

Of other people’s stories, curated, yours.

Look, listen, watch: They dance marvelously.

Hush, little baby, you stay on all fours.

-

No need to get up, no need to feel shame,

You're perfect as is—so docile and tame.
