dear anger,

i'd like to talk. i know you are a sacred teacher in this life. a signal for me when better is deserved. you guide my understanding of what is just by alerting me to injustice. you ensure i only allow myself to be treated and handled with respect because you're intolerant of less. with these lessons you have provided me the tools to protect my worth, move through the world conscious of justice and never settle. for this i am eternally grateful. however, we are going to need to reel it in a little. sometimes it is time for breath not time for anger.

thank you for our sacred and ever changing and evolving relationship.

dear rage,

thank you for carrying me through my deepest brokenness. in my times of having nothing left, no light, no hope, no fight, you have triumphed. you have protected me - me - my true essence from being tainted and distorted beyond repair into something unrecognizable. many times you are correct in being triggered by all this suffering that is orchestrated in the world and with that you keep my heart pure. but i need you to know we are safe now. we have wounds still raw. we are vulnerable. there are threats that lurk. but in many moments, my love, we have been safe. you must rest up until only the moments when you are truly needed. we must remember rage in the wrong place causes harm. we must not hurt us.

i'm so grateful to have you watching over us.

dear shame,

sometimes you are a harsh teacher giving hard lessons. for those times i thank you for your strength and resilience. we are experiencing what it means to be human and sometimes that means facing our terrible choices and greatest mistakes but let us show ourselves more grace than shame. it is, after all, our imperfections that make us perfectly human.

i am thankful you continue to guide my understanding of my truth but let us not dance for too long. your lessons are best served swiftly.
