Life in opposite directions
A poem about transgender acceptance

What is it like,
For two people,
To live in opposite directions?
When at birth,
Their sexes,
One male,
One female,
Reflected not who they are,
But what they are.
Over the course of their lives,
They came to realize,
Their sexes reflected
Not their gender,
But their prison.
Thus,
As time moved forward,
They kept their inner self,
Locked away,
From everyone,
Even themselves.
After several years,
Of internal isolation,
They found someone like themself,
In an opposite direction.
Only through meeting each other,
Did they realize,
Their opposite directions,
Led them in the same direction,
Towards inner acceptance.
