I am hungry for the
Coppery taste of
Bad decisions
And groundwater.
Hungry for the days
When I danced
With dragonflies,
Slept in the mud,
And woke at noon.
I'm starving for
Clear nights,
Moonlight that burns
It's so bright,
And the taste of
Flat champagne.
Give me the fog
Of summer insanity.
The damp shoes
Of a run gone on
Long enough to
Fall victim
To the teeth
Of a summer storm,
Growling.
Flashing.
Hunting.
I want to taste
The nightmare
In the air, tinged
With the taste of
Strawberries
And blood.
I need the absurdity.
The winds of change
Whispering
In my ear.

The mix of nostalgia and danger creates such a vivid, electric atmosphere.
Moonlight that burns It's so bright, And the taste of Flat champagne. Give me the fog Of summer insanity. Summer nights and late sunsets, come on!! Loved your poem. And I hate any drink bubbly so especially don't like champagne - the reference to flat, of course, stood out to me.
Great poem. 🥰 Also... agreed....I am positively famished!
Doggone it, I need that too! Now we're both hungry. Phenomenal writing!
You weave one hell of a spell. I'm here for it.
Thunderstorms are perfect. The sound and the electricity the travels through the air. I love how you captured the feeling with your words. 👏⛈
