Little Legs Dangling

Quiet Realisations by the Baby-Monitor Glow

Top Story - December 2025
One peaceful night, one tiny detail, and a reminder of how quickly little ones grow.

I peek at my little boy

and realise

he’s no longer a baby.

👣

Sleeping peacefully,

his little legs hang

through his cot —

he’s grown too tall.

👣

Gone are the wakeful nights;

he surrenders to slumber now.

His language is flourishing.

I miss the cute way

he’d stumble on certain words.

👣

I can’t recall

the last time

I carried him up the stairs.

Racing full-speed ahead,

I gently remind him to

hold my hand.

👣

He still loves milk,

but no longer takes it

from a bottle.

Holding a sippy cup

proudly in two

small hands,

he drinks on his own.

👣

He’s starting to make

his own choices,

not all of them

needing his mum

by his side.

👣

But watching those

little legs dangling

out of the cot,

I realise

my little boy

will always be

my baby.

I love to watch children because that is how we should be. Free and alive. Thank you. HUGS. Love the image

I love this photo. They grow up so fast it's surreal. I am astounded by the speed of one year, and before you know it, 20 are gone.

They grow up so fast! Lovely poem 💛

  • He's really growing up quickly, isn't he? Before you know it, he'll be in a bed.

Let them find new skills, but they are vulnerable.

It's scary how when we are young we remember every holiday etc, now our years are just a number. Time is faster and it feels everything left behind.

So sweet. Mine are in their 30's now and they're both still my babies. I do wish I could get them to stop using sippy cups, though. Congratulations on Leaderboard!

This sweet poem made me think of how im practicing gratitude to cultivate more patience, with myself as well as with my toddler. Whenever im frustrated or annoyed with my toddler’s crazy antics, i tell myself out loud “one day you’re gonna miss these chaotic moments, these baby giggles and silly games, enjoy this moment for the blessing it truly is” and it really helps me to get back into the moment, and with gratitude instead of annoyance. They are little for such a short time and while their laughter will forever echo within our hearts, their absence one day will be heavy. Practicing gratitude in those moments creates memories to cherish later on.

That's what my mom always says, too. No matter how old I get, I am always her baby. You described growing up in the loveliest way, but the ache is still there in the edges of the stanzas. Congrats on the TS!💖
