Lost In Wonderland

She Finds Herself In Alice...

By Angel Friesen Published 4 years ago 1 min read

She finds herself in Alice

Desperately trying to find a solution

To escape her written fate

Small scrolls offering to save her

Eat me

But this pill makes her small

Drowns her voice

And demands obedience

It makes her still

And forces her to fall asleep

In the middle of a flower bed

That pill hides the voices

Behind a simple curtain

They boil with anticipation

Preparing for their cue;

Once the euphoria is over

They will enter from stage right

And spew their deadly arias

She desperately grasps

Praying there’s anything

She may ingest

To release her from this wonderland

Drink me

To numb the pain

For a moment she feels released

The burden of who she is not

And who she is supposed to be

Alleviated from her aching shoulders

But this drink is quick

It takes away her memory

But not that of those around her

Whom she whips

With the hate and pain

That she couldn’t bear herself

He offers her a different drink

And pleas with her to take it

With tears rushing down his face

You’re disappearing, he says

Your body is shutting down

If you will not eat

Drink this instead

It will make you grow

She is envious of Alice

For even at her darkest moments

Through all of her mistakes

Alice stayed beautiful and loved

Perhaps it was that Alice was just a visitor

Whereas she lives endlessly

Trapped in a timeless chasm

So far from the other side

She can no longer exist in reality

To remain eternally as nothing but a drawing on paper
