I remember it like it was yesterday
As I’m walking down memory lane
It’s fascinating
How my favourite memories are the ones I didn’t realize I was making
Until they were made
Maybe it’s just Mercury retrograde
But it’ll hit me out of nowhere
The scent of a stranger from a gust of air
The million words hidden in an old picture
An old song my parents used to always play
Home cooked meals that taste like Nana used to make
Or the crisp chill on my skin as the seasons change
If I close my eyes
I can almost travel back in time
To relive those moments that passed me by
Before becoming memories I romanticize
I’ll remember exactly how I felt
When the past was once my present
And I had no idea what the future held
That nostalgic feeling I can only share with myself
Every fork in the road
Every house that’s felt like home
Every lessen learned
Every table turned
Every trial and tribulation
Every inspiring conversation
Every scar that tells a story
Every gore and every glory
Everything we’ve come to know
Has shaped us as we grow
Every experience is a seed
Everyone’s garden is unique
Cause we all develop from a different past
And I look forward to looking back
At the memories currently I’m making
Knowing soon they’ll be scenes I’m mentally replaying
I’ll take a look around
And take it all in
Someday this’ll be another memory I’m recalling

I absolutely LOVE the melancholy feel to this poem
