Just close your eyes and concentrate

Let the world around you dissipate

That’s when you can reach it if you try

It’s in your mind that you can really fly

*

The comfort of the touch of a mother

The love you had was like none other

Back to that place in time

Worries were free, and life was sublime

Take me back to the last place I felt safe

To a time when I didn’t have to be brave

Before I knew the troubles of this land

And a mother’s touch felt so grand

Before I knew a mother could hurt

Before I found myself face down in the dirt

For her love would soon after spoil

And my hopes and dreams would recoil

*

But if I just close my eyes, find that focal point

I feel her touch and not the disappoint

In my mind, I can find that time and disappear

To where I’m not in charge and have nothing to fear
