Feeling good
is not doing good
or being good.
<>
Though it is a blessed day
When these three things align,
If we pursue only good feelings
We will be sure to find
That we do so at others’ expense.
<>
Tyrants feel good about accruing power.
Thieves feel good when they steal.
Serial killers feel good when they kill.
Rapists feel good when they violate.
<>
Addicts feel good when they get their next fix,
Though any of them will tell you:
It never lasts long enough to matter.
<>
Doing good doesn’t always feel good,
And sometimes those on behalf
Of whom we’ve made the effort
Fail to appreciate it
And might even scorn us.
<>
Should we cease doing good?
<>
Sometimes being good
Is not a matter of
Doing anything,
But knowing the right time
To do nothing.
<>
The good one may be boring
But the good one is never bored.
<>
This is the real secret
Which reveals itself
To anyone who seeks
To cultivate
A pure heart.
<>
It’s the most unknown
Unrecognized
Misunderstood
Right out in the open
For everyone to see
Mystery of the Universe.
<>
The instruction is simple:
Seek and you will find.

❤️❤️ That Tricolon in your opening line was a breath of fresh air. It provided a balanced look at logic that felt light as a feather and made me want to read ahead. I found the Juxtaposition throughout to be incredibly striking. While we would never call a tyrant or a thief "good," those individuals are often cladded in the immoral mud of simply "feeling good."
Nice work! Definitely made me thoughtful upon reading. While not an exact parallel, this reminds of how the squeakiest wheel in the room may not always be the most just. And, it's often worth listening when that 'boring' or quiet person speaks up - they often see and hear the most. Now does that mean either type of person is evil or good based on these qualities? Not necessarily - but, there is some correlation in these types.
Profound, beautiful and filled with grace. I loved this, Rommi!
This one really made me stop and think. Great work!
Omgggg, I loveeeeee this! Especially stanzas 1, 7, and 8! They were so deep!
Exactly, seek and you shall find what you need and want just don't forget to be patient. Good job.
This is really thought provoking
This is better and clearer than any sermon I had to sit through. Well made, dear friend!!
