Nadia Murad is an incredibly inspiring figure. Born on March 10, 1993, in the village of Kocho in northern Iraq, Nadia is a member of the Yazidi minority. In 2014, during the Yazidi genocide by the Islamic State, she was abducted from her hometown and held as a sex slave for three months2. She managed to escape and has since become a powerful advocate for victims of human trafficking and genocide.

Nadia is the founder of Nadia's Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women and children victimized by genocide, mass atrocities, and human trafficking to heal and rebuild their lives and communities. Her efforts have earned her numerous accolades, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018, which she shared with Congolese gynecologist Denis Mukwege for their work to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war.

Her autobiography, "The Last Girl: My Story of Captivity, and My Fight Against the Islamic State," details her harrowing experiences and her journey to becoming a global advocate for human rights
