Take a deep breath
Let it out slowly
Repeat
Take a deep breath
Let it out slowly
Repeat
Close your eyes
And take another breath
Repeat
Allow the jitters to shake your hands
Allow the butterflies to crawl up your throat
(Pretty, pretty butterflies)
Acknowledge those jitters
And the butterflies
You won’t get sick
The shaking hands
Are just a sign
Of how much you want this
They’re there to remind you
How you feel this every time
But you’ve got this
You won’t get sick
Another deep breath
And step forward
Open your mouth
Speak your piece
The nerves are gone

I followed the breathing at the beginning and it was so relaxing.
I like how the nerves are usually gone when I'm done speaking my piece!
So true. I've never had a fear of public speaking, and this is one advice I give to people who do: "Breathe in, breathe out. You know this stuff better than anyone else because it's yours. Go knock them out with your knowledge and wisdom." Great poem, Reb!
A wise reminder which I need every once in a while, Reb! A positive, uplifting poem.
