Trouble, how would I define our love?
Probably like a vintage lantern.
It just feels so right within my life
Yet is not without worry, concern.
The flame is safely fueled, contained,
Burning steadily as a beacon.
The glass has layers of grit and grime
Points that this could be for a season
We are working on healing, fixing,
And cleaning up our lives together
Perfection - not with our history!
Jointly sharing with one another
The flame is not super bright, nor burns hot
Holds not the danger of flying spark
Just consistent warmth - steady and true
Safe for me - a difference so stark!
Every now and then, we both struggle
Trusting this - try blowing out the flame
The flicker reminds me that our love
It could depart as fast as it came!
We both hold the lantern cautiously
Both knowing how fragile love can be
Both feeling home is where we both are
Jointly guarding from powers that be
We might end up getting thrown away
vintage treasures ending up as junk
But we treasure history dearly
So lantern, ship would have to be sunk
Maybe? - we do not know the future
For right now though, we hold our love safe
Securely protected from alarms
So glad our love, lantern is kept safe.

"yes! And I have the papers to prove it! How about you?" LOL
