Our Silence Became My Song

When words faded, I found music in the quiet you left behind.

By Fazal HadiPublished 7 months ago 1 min read

There was a time we spoke in colors,

In coffee steam and gentle smiles,

You'd hold my gaze like a promise,

And the world felt quiet for a while.

But then—like dusk that forgot the stars—

You turned your eyes toward elsewhere.

And I was left with echoes

Of things we didn’t dare to share.

No door slammed, no harsh goodbye,

Only silence that softly grew,

A space where meaning used to live—

And I had no choice but to move through.

At first, the silence broke me,

It screamed in rooms you used to fill,

The absence hurt more than anger

Because it stayed perfectly still.

But over time, the quiet changed—

Not empty now, but deep.

A garden where I plant my pain,

And sing myself to sleep.

I learned the language of the hush,

Each pause a note, each breath a verse,

And though your silence still remains,

It no longer feels like a curse.

Now every tear that dried unheard

Became the rhythm in my chest,

And every word you never said

Turned into lines I write best.
