Out of the corner of my eye,

He wore a sweater

OVER

a white t-shirt

Wire rimmed glass

His distinctive laugh

I did a double take

COVER

His laugh for fear

of being too loud

The way he kissed

clouded my senses

DISCOVER

The way he held,

me close felt serene

I wiped a tear from

his lonesome eyes

As we said our goodbyes

HOVER

Hugs full of warmth

a heart

never soon forgets

Out of sight, but never far

from my minds eye

ROUGHER

How could I,

look him in the eye

as I break my own heart

Where to start?

I am not brave enough

to face him

knowing his jadedness

has changed him-

SUFFER

Looking into those same eyes,

watching his lips part,

lean in to kiss

What if the spark is lost?

A heart chalk full

of beautiful memories

could be torn out of my chest-

As I watch our love story

fade into nothingness….

If I walk away now,

all those past times

will be left in the vault of my heart

IF I see him, all those days

will be behind us

replaced, and I will lose

sight of us all over again…
