Palette

And the taste of tears

Your sorrow is my palette

And I am painting a picture

Large enough to devour you.

.

Maybe in another life I was

Strong enough to resist you

And those pretty little tears.

.

Or maybe I'm just as hungry

There in that dreamland as I am

Here, standing in front of you.

.

But I'm of the mind that it was

A hopeless dream from the start

Because your tears are beautiful.

.

They are sweet on my lips, sweet

Running over your lashes, lips.

And they are delicious in my mouth.

.

Nectar, ambrosia, whatever fits,

They are my sustenance, darling.

And I'm afraid I'll never quit them.
