A million years ago,
A different time,
A different place,
Like the flame does the moth,
You drew me in.
Time and time again,
I fluttered back,
Powerless to resist
The fire.
Time marched on,
And seasons changed,
One into another,
And back again,
Into a new time,
Into a new space.
Older &wiser, wings long healed.
In the distance,
The flame still burns.
Inching closer,
Slowly, carefully,
The pain of seared wings,
The joy of such warmth
Both suddenly raw.
I remember the danger,
Yet yearn for the heat,
And once again, I am
Powerless.
