The poem is a story about a wood-nymph.
In Bulgarian folk art, this image has its specific place.
Many legends are retelling how a fairy, living in the deepest woods, comes out and goes into the villages, pretending to be a human, and steels the heart and soul of the most handsome man. She promises him love and great pleasure. After some time, the nymph leaves the man to wаnder across the woods and mountains alone and despairing. Sometimes, the man stays with the fairy as her devoted slave until he dies.
But there are occasions when a magic woman falls in love and then craves to receive love and affection from a man. She knows she is immortal and she will never become old. She also knows, being a magical creature, she will never give her lover a home, children, and peace.

Loving lass I am not till your death!
I’m a witch in my blood and my veins.
My soul’s free! Till I take my last breath.
Home and duty are too heavy means.
Silver rope is my hair, like lace.
It will strangle you. Losing your mind
I’ll enchant you with the tenderest grace!
You’ll be homeless, weak and so blind.
Do not wait. I won’t give you a child.
Cradle songs I won’t learn how to sing.
Virile hearts I am making to dry.
And your soul would be tied with a string…
Darkest night — I am strolling deep woods!
Dawn has come to wash in the spring.
I will burn you! Don’t play by my mood.
Take my kiss — it’s the bitterest thing!
I am yours and the biggest of your curse.
And the darkness will stay next to you.
Gifts of mine carry grief. And it burns!
While your mind gonna sink into the blue.
Loving lass I am not. You admit!
Home and hearth — you believe I don’t need!
Look at me — no regret! Just quit!
I’m a witch! In my heart’s strongest beat.
For an instant, you hold me so tight
And you bare your heart truly deep!
I will give you my magic and might.
And I’ll pray for your loving to keep.

It’s so deep, yet mysterious—like a love you can never have. You’ve really captured the essence of longing and enchantment!
