Instructions on how to love

By N J DelmasPublished 7 days ago Updated 7 days ago 1 min read

Punch Drunk

Tread lightly a poet once said.

Ignore this advice.

Instead walk barefoot with abandon across the shard covered ring.

Love hard, fully and with total abandon.

Crowd surf the mosh pit of desire.

Learn nothing from knock backs.

Throw off the gloves.

Wipe blood from your mouth and smile like a deranged fool.

To feel lightly is to love partly.

Bet it all on red and spin the wheel.

Pull the guard from your mouth.

Spew words on the mat.

Hang from the ropes with blood matted hair and missing teeth.

Swill your mouth with regret and spit.

Love until the lights black out.

About the Creator

N J Delmas

I lean towards the darker side of fiction and poetry. I love folk lore, fairy tales, ghosts and witches, often giving old themes a new twist. I have published with several magazines and am in the process of writing a dark YA fiction.
