Red Forest

Colors and promises..

By Toni CooperPublished 3 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

Towering trees all around,

Majestic giants, silent, profound,

The rustling leaves, the whistling wind,

Gentle, alive and swirling in

Wandering deep into these woods,

The scent of earth and silence sooths,

Bearing follows, growing dim,

Until lost, I dwell within.

Trees looming high, their branches spread,

A labyrinth of red, a maze ahead

The sun begins to set and fade,

Dying's the day's last longing tint of red,

Shadows grow, and colors shade,

Rising moon, still overhead.

The night is long but full of grace,

Resting a while in this sacred place.

Scattered sparkling stars, their guiding light,

Leading me through the forest's might.

For though I was lost, and felt alone,

The forest held me, made me known.

A throbbing silence invades, takes hold...

A familiar echo in the night foretold.

In its depth, I found two hearts,

Bleeding but strong amongst the scars

Their beats, bold and steady

Souls enthralled yet unready.

Expressing fear and every doubt,

Until a path is found... a way out,

Whispering promises of what may be,

Out of reach now, yet, still we see,

To each other, a newfound way,

Towards the dawn of a brand-new day.

Towering trees all around,

Majestic giants, a peace profound,

The rustling leaves, the whistling wind

The forest beauty, mysteries within.
