Death's thrall surrounds me.
Thick, rich, red rot coats the ground;
The blanket of Spring.

I'm glad you wrote a haiku on both death and resurrection, Rachel. Beautiful!
I hadn't considered Spring with Autumn before- my mind automatically goes to Winter of course. Another one where the second line is strong:)
I love the contrast between the rot - the alliteration makes me almost smell it for some reason - and the promise of spring with all its freshness.
Your word choice is so good. Sheesh, this one knocks it out of the park!
Beautiful haiku, Rachel! You portrayed the cycle of death to rebirth with vivid imagery.
Thick, rich, red rot - delicious alliteration, Rachel. I can hear and feel it soft and squishy under my feet. A master class in mining emotion from 17 syllables! Good luck on the challenge!
I like death’s thrall a lot! Hope you are going alright!
Every part of this haiku is beautiful… including the title & image.Great work.
Aren't you just a poet with the most! This is beautiful and like Susan said, lovely reminder of the circular nature of the world around us. Love it.
A reminder of the circle of life in haiku form. Well done!
Oh wow, rot coats and blanket of spring, that was brilliant!
