Rooted Memories
Roots and Branches Challenge

Memories of my life go back decades
Some are pleasant, some are incredibly sad
Some are tragic, and some are defining
Some rave of triumphs, some reek of losses
God didn't promise any of us tomorrow
What stabilized us in the past
Differs from what anchors us today and in the future
Experiences change us in ways we can't predict
The death of a child, or being handicapped by illness
Yet the strength to go on is individual
Is it gratefulness to still be alive?
Or by habit, to still provide for those left on earth
To wake up each morning, to the daylight coming in my window
Telling me I made it another day
It is mine, all mine, all day long
To do with this day, anything I want to do with this glorious day
I look back on the memories that are all tied together
For it shapes our lives, mistakes and victories alike
I look back on those memories with sorrow and joy
And wisdom of lessons learned
For now, this is enough to plan my day
Until the light of another morning shines through my window
Until then...............
This is enough!!
