SEASONAL

a poem

By Aaron MorrisonPublished about a year ago 1 min read

And for my next trick

I’m gonna disappear

Please hold your applause

Until my head is clear

Just ignore the tail lights

As I race on out of here

It’s aux chords

And “please Lords”

I pray for

Distraction and deliverance

Or at least a little sleep

But I’m kept up all night

By Marley and his chains

I try to reason through it

But I just ain’t got the brains

Like a goddamn scarecrow

That’s shitty at his job

The murder

Is laughing

Each time that

I fall

But there’s no wizard waiting

At the end of the road

And no one will be there

Saying they’ll miss me most of all

Just a room full of clones

And vaporous promises

Of new year, new me

And skeptical handshakes

Between me, me, and me
