The chill sashays in, unhissing

'Fore we unknow what we're unmissing

Carpets unroll in unsilent susurrus

As the homenote unsounds discordant unround us

.

Iced cement fills the cracks

Solidifying where unmortar lacks

Expanding with clicks and pops and sounds

Settling my home, unnoisy, down

.

The world goes underground in wintry respite

With the cadence of all marching unaway from it

And brittly leaves leave underfoot,

The sounds of footsteps, unforward put

.

The crackling charges of ions made

When dry fabrics unchafe the static inlaid

Make the clothed uncrinkle in harmony

With the crinkly leaves' footsteps' unmade destiny

Fascinating way to present winter as negation. Loved the feel and disrupted rhythm of the poem, reflecting the potent disruption of snow, ice and the profound cold. The line ‘Fore we unknow what we’re unmissing is especially striking. Good luck on the challenge

  • This is delightful..playful and witty (chef's kiss)
