The nights are never long enough when I'm with you

The stars come out too fast.

The nights where I am with you

no others could contrast.

Hot baths in the evening,

lets play in the cold snow.

Soaking, in a beauty,

this island seldom knows.

You and I are on a winning streak,

it's become my favourite day.

Where I fall in love, once a week

records on replay.

Though I cannot hear the melancholy,

your voice is far too sweet.

So do we cut through the forest or stick to the street

on our favourite walk to the beach?

It's rocky, waves are broken, you are not ready for this view.

But the seashells, I'll collect.

I'll paint sunrise for you.

Short nights.

You telling me my eyes are bright.

Why would we even need the day's light

when the sun's in front of you.

But the morning has come, the coffee is strong,

the mugs are my favourite shade of blue.

It reminds me of the sea. Now,

like cinnamon, it reminds you of me.

A dream that can't yet come true.

So I tell you I fall asleep writing of you

you say you'll put it to a tune.

I'm naked and in bed, but I'm in the wrong room.

You tell stories that scare me

Still I want to hear them from you.

You keep me up at night, anyway

Our time in review.

(in my mind)

I'm blaming the moonrise.

It takes away the beauty that I am witness to

once a week

on the shortest of nights.
