Sirens of the Celestial Citadel

Melodies of Surrender and Redemption

One of my favorite singer's is Sarah Brightman. I had the chance to see her live when she was in Phantom Of The Opera. One of her songs was my muse for this free verse poem.

The fiery sun melts into the midnight cradle,

The silvery moon begins to climb high,

Into the sky with stars in patterns of a glimmering ladle.

Leave your mausoleum of distress at your gleaming gateway,

‘Tis time to enter your sanctuary of soft linens lying on your bed.

A journey of your own making is waiting for you straightaway.

Whatever echoes of unrest have darkened your path, it’s time to shred.

Bid farewell,

Cradle your hand in mine; lullaby paradise is ahead.

Do not eclipse your own desire for peaceful sleep; trust my spell.

All of our desires are for a night of pure elation.

You can choose to come with me or endure a sleep from hell!

For there is a serene vision waiting at our destination,

With my feathery Oracle, snowy white owl,

We will set forth for ethereal dreams, so peaceful, of intoxication.

Come quick! The God of Veiled Intent could begin his prowl.

For our time is ephemeral, for sure.

Let me be your composer of dreams; my purpose is not foul.

Free fall into my lavender embrace with fairy dust so pure.

Let us fly on the wings of light,

Feel the wind kiss our skin, sending tingles of goosebumps, a pleasure to endure.

Euphoric caresses that travel up and down our bare arms with delight,

Like a pianist practicing scales on an elegant ivory piano keys.

There is nothing like moonlit escapades during a dreamy night.

A paradise awaits us, of celestial divine, of whimsical fairies on green vine trapeze.

Bubbles of laughter float in the starry air,

My dream weavers will have you swim in the shimmering deep blue seas.

Fly through rainbow moonbeams, tossing haunted feelings you daily bear,

Don’t you want to be free? To dance with my sirens in citadel of repose.

It’s not me who decides our flight, it’s you, so beware.

My Oracle Owl knows,

Whether you are chained by moments of the day,

Or if did you leave them behind with your daily clothes.

The demon of shadows carries a tarnish tray of your worry decay,

He is masterful of playing with your fears,

A chameleon crafting ones that feel so real, you will wish to slay.

It’s a mirage for his pleasure, he feeds off your tears,

Avoid his dark web of lies.

I am your Goddess of your night; I have been for years!

Release to me now, fly with me in the endless night for your surprise.

A sapphire sky with a blanket of diamond stars that sparkle so bright.

Is waiting for you to be cuddled with your sandman allies.

Our journey will end, my rested friend,

With the echoing sounds of morning dove’s lyric as the touch of a citrus sunrise

Illuminates your soft rumpled linens of last night’s embrace, your energy mended.

So all you have to do is…….take my hand.

The line that made me pause: "All of our desires are for a night of pure elation"

  • The Oracle Owl reminded me of Hedwig from Harry Potter because he's snowy white too like Hedwig! Your poem was so beautiful!

  • An ethereal journey written through masterful lines of a composed epic. Well Done Daphsam. And thanks for introducing me to Sarah Brightman I had never heard her sing before.
