Spring

By Jamie Raven

By Jamie RavenPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I was born in May,

On the edge of spring and summer.

I’ve always carried a large sense of self,

And it sometimes makes me wonder

If the springtime has influences my traits.

It mirrors my indecisiveness,

And perhaps I am bound to the same spring fate:

As the weather rises and falls,

So does my mind, slipping in the late

Night and then shining with the sun.

Some days are sweltering-

Intense and unbearable.

Others feel like I’m drowning, tons

Upon tons of rain emptying from my eyes.

And some are calm,

With sun rays poking through the clouds in the sky.

Sometimes I forget the best part about spring:

It is a time for growth.

So even through the raging storms,

I know the thunder and lightning will bring

About beautiful flowers and towering trees.

Spring eventually turns to summer

And the Earth finds its bearings.

Just like me.

Every time.
