The urge to be "normal"

Take one step

then another

and another, but never

are they taken together

ebbing and flowing

one and then the other

first and then following

a forgotten requirement

to the worlds function

exceptions

are just that

less than normal

one step and then the other

the ebbing and flowing

of the first and their following

created to be

together, created for community

created for the first and the followers

to cross forward and then back

to ebb and flow as if the world

is moving less

and we are moving more

to ebb and flow around

the universe rather than let it flow

around us

one step and then the other

the first and then their followers

to forget, to balance

to stay upright, one step

and then another

falling an option

but not one many are willing to take

to choose

to embrace

following better than falling

being behind better than worrying

why no one is ahead

one step and then another

ebbing and flowing

following instead of falling

one step and then another

never thinking or

understanding

that in falling we may find

we have wings

in falling maybe we learn

flying was an option all that time

exceptions could be the norm

but we’re just following

so we don’t fall

one step after the other
