Struggle

You see the world around you, the struggles we all have

You dislike watching your children suffer throughout life

We at some point must let go of their hand

Let them sink or swim in this crazy land

Show them responsibility and raise them with care

Be a good parent the best you know how

Raise ladies and gentlemen not hoodlums

We want to do so much for our children, yet we don't want to share in their blame

When will you open your eyes and see, this will not fall on me

I'll raise my boys to be gentlemen

To be responsible where they can

Hard times are hard but through faith we push through

We need to expect the unexpected and just keep pushing through

Be good role models, ones are little ones look up to

You can only push a person so far before they break

Eventually you'll wake up and it will be written on your face

I've sacrificed so much, in such a little time

I have two children of my own to raise and watch as they grow

I can't be responsible for what isn't at hand

I can't always be the one holding the hands; only the littles need a hand

Their little hands are all I need to hold

They need me more than ever in this cold and cruel world

You don't see it that way and I'm sorry you don't

Your little girls in trouble but I've done all I can do

I'm not her mother and I can't just pick her up

My heart aches for her but I've done enough

I can't play the mother role when she is not here

I've dished out enough on my end you see

Now you need to use your brain and figure out the next four to six weeks

I can love you with all my heart but right now your tearing all this apart

A month almost two in all of this and here I am looking foolish

Your daughter is important but so are my sons

I don't want to give up but there is nothing else I can do

I am suffering as much as you

I don't have a home or a fancy car

I live in a home as big as a shoe box

You don't see the other side, you only see yours

I understand why but open your eyes and see there is more

You are a survivor so use your skills

You need a little more faith in all you do

I don't want to be the bad guy if I don't put my foot down I'll end up falling through a hole

I'll have no where else to go

My life is a mess more than you know, I don't keep secrets but there is a lot you don't know

You can't see things from my point view and I can't just go pick up your daughter for you

No matter the struggle if we are meant to be then fate will always intercede

We don't enjoy watching out children struggle or ourselves for that matter, however, we do need to raise them to be realistic in this world. Show them to stand on their own two feet but also let them know they can always come to you. Keep an open door policy between you/your spouse and your children/yourself. Be honest with one another. Be truthful. Let them know they can always count on you in the struggle but also that they are capable of getting through it as well. Same goes for relationships and marriages. You have to stick by one another, see each others point of view.
