The Audacity of Water

From birth until death

By Xena WarriorPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

I give life, holding you as you form,

I surrounded the very earth when it was born.

It is I who courses through your veins, allowing your blood to flow,

Making your body stronger than you could ever know.

From your eyes and the skies I descend,

Uncaring that I bring your merriment to an end.

You cannot fathom the depths of me,

Yet still you wander my oceans, trying to see.

But know this:

When my depths rise to meet the air, I am all-consuming,

Like my fiery counterpart, I become devastating.

Just as I held you in your mother's womb,

I can also hold you in a salty tomb.
