The Face of Resusci Anne
The doll we learn to resuscitate with. The true story

The Face of Resusci Anne
She drowned with a smile
no name to call her by
no papers in her hand
just a girl from the river Seine
The city held her secret
no marks no wounds no fight
only a calm across her lips
a quiet sleep beneath the tide
The mask was made in silence
her face pressed into clay
artists called her beautiful
writers gave her love and loss
She lived on in their stories
a stranger never named
her smile became a legend
the unknown girl of the Seine
Years moved on and found her
in classrooms far away
her lips the breath of learning
her face the guide to life
Resusci Anne they called her
to teach the world to save
and so the most kissed face of all
was born from an unnamed grave
Her smile became the lesson
her silence gave us breath
a drowned girl from the river Seine
now rescues life from death
Each mouth that leans upon her
each hand that feels her chest
repeats the ghost of long ago
the face that will not rest
She is the unknown stranger
who crossed from death to give
though lost beneath the water’s pull
her likeness learns to live
She is the doll that learns us
how to resuscitate today
on training courses everywhere
her face still shows the way

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️

This would be a great poem to read before starting any CPR class. Great work is this also true?
