The Fall of Darkness
Of rain, of rage, of night, of despair, of death

Heart beats irregular, symptom of pain,
Uneven rhythm, steals my sanity,
Light slowly dies to the patter of rain.
***
No use in living, life itself is drain,
The poet speaks true, all is vanity,
Heart beats irregular, symptom of pain.
***
Rising floodwaters, rain and blood both stain,
Sunset obscured, limns stark reality,
Light slowly dies to the patter of rain.
***
Resignation, it goes against the grain,
I contemplate my frail humanity,
Heart beats irregular, symptom of pain.
***
Why did I rage? Why is my lover slain?
Could I bluff? Can I blame insanity?
Light slowly dies to the patter of rain.
***
Betrayed my own, only myself to blame,
Fatal blow from dying love, equity...
Heart beats irregular, symptom of pain,
Light slowly dies to the patter of rain.
