The goddess within us

A reflection from a woman

By River SeearPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

It's not fair...

Dye your hair

Wax your legs

Change your clothes

Fix your nose

Is this what we chose?

Gotta be wanted

Not flaunt it

Yet I'm haunted

I'll be unwanted

So I put on my dress

Trying to impress

I'm so sick of this message

My self-esteem a wreckage

The way we're portrayed

And displayed

So reduced to his "use"

Bound and defined by misuse

We're lost and distraught

So caught up in thought

That we forgot

And we fought to be acquired

So desperate to be admired

Well I'm tired of being hardwired to be desired

Release me from these projections

I reject them

Can’t comply with this lie

To behave like a slave

I am more than the eye can behold

I let it unfold, my story told

I am worthy of more than a form to adore

Hear me roar!

Not just curves to observe

I want to preserve

What is sacred

These standards absurd

Haven’t you heard

She's the goddess unreserved

And she deserves a rebirth

To unearth

Her worth

To awaken!

You see truth cannot be mistaken

Your soul is unshaken

There is no escaping

The goddess within us
