The Grim Reaper

A sonnet

By Jennie JeannePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I love the way the moon shines on his face

And how he glows beneath the cloudless sky,

But though I feel the love in his embrace

The life I'd have with him he does deny;

I cannot show the love I hold for him-

My lonely Prince of cold descending night-

Because the flame of life for me grows dim

While his will burn forever just as bright.

I'll see him as I leave this world behind

He'll take my hand to lead me on my way

And though he could convince time to rewind

My love, the Reaper, will not let me stay.

It was not wise to fall in love with Death,

But I shall love him 'till my dying breath.
