The Kingfisher. Not a bird that we often think of, but one that radiates awe and majesty nonetheless. As its name suggests, it holds rein over the seas, and strikes terror into the beating hearts of the creatures that live in them. Enjoy the simple cinquain ode.

Bird of

Prey which has

A solid beak that holds

Rein over the many fish of

The seas

Proud King

Wings cover the

Vast waters that stretch so

Endlessly over ground teeming

With life

The life

This king well knows

Belongs firmly to him

And so it stands, guarding firmly

Its place

Place of

Beauteous nature

And bounteous wealth that it

Can never hope to deplete

Or lose

Place of

Endless quarry

That it will never stop

Holding its rein of pure terror

Over

A place

That  it will hold

And grasp with certainty

Till time decides to stop running

Its rac.e

inspirational
