The Lamp Of The Body

My Beloved

Two eyes to see two sides to a story.

The lamp of the body,

your eyes are the lights of the world.

I have chosen such eyes because I cannot see my own.

Looking into a mirror only tells me so much,

as if I am scrying my own soul.

Not much can be seen from the outside.

Inside I feel weary,

weariness is temporary.

Weariness is necessary.

Let us be weary together.

We hold our hands, the hands of the world.

A smile can be contagious, as can a frown.

To be weary is to struggle,

to struggle is to learn.

We never fought with each other, we fought with the world.

We look this way, we look that way,

we look forward and get lost.

A compass can be broken,

as can a heart.

A compass can be fixed,

but first, we must fix the heart.

Weariness is our obstacle,

we find ways around it.

Our heart has not been broken.
