ribs protruding,
stomachs rumbling,
a gnawing hunger,
feet bruised,
bloody,
and sore,
as the last remnants,
of a dying earth,
abandon their home,
they wander,
searching,
hoping,
for the last ship,
no money,
no possessions,
rags on their backs,
for who cares about riches,
as the world crumbles,
when the air is deadly,
and fire rains from the heavens,
the seas boil,
for the last ship,
leaving earth,
is their only hope,
for in the end,
nothing matters,
the rich,
the poor,
they all meet the same end.
