Crystals were now falling from the sky.
It is inconceivable to you and I but the nature of the day has made it so.
The snow that has been falling all night and left us cold is now sparkling from the light of a star.
The star we call a sun the one that for a portion of the year is too much for our comfort to bear.
But today is different. Oh yes, today is very different.
For the star had become a father or a son that left for war or a mother or a daughter that left to take care of a sick family member.
The war is over and the sickness is gone. So now as the last snows of winter fall as they did the first snows of winter fell.
The sun, long lost love we believed we would never see again, has shown itself at an unexpected time.
These eyes of mine water at the beauty of what once was transforming before my very eyes into what will be.
My tears no longer stopped halfway as frozen water freely flowed down my face and left my chin as it was always meant to.
Red and orange and yellow and blue and dark blue fill what once was only darkness.
Simple colors not twisting and turning into elaborate art to convey an eloquent message yet I found myself in awe of its beauty.
The simplicity of it paired with the relief of its presence.
It greeted the world with a perfect balance of flair and dignity and the world greeted it back with a chorus of songs.
Some songs came in melodies and others came in grunts.
Some came in howls and others came in splashes.
I fell to my knees and looked skyward.
The dark could not hold back the light.
The endless night was ending and the color was returning.
Life found its voice that winter had so cruelly taken.
And unless I am mistaken I hear less than what was before.
So is the nature of the endless night.
But as the light has returned so will the life that was lost.
Though the day will surely come when the sun must leave us again though I do not understand why.
In this instance with the comfort of forgotten warmth I will lay here and watch as crystals fall from the sky.
