The Naked Truth
Words in the Nude
My thoughts are bare
I can’t help but stare at their beauty
Their perfect golden hue
Leaves nothing to the imagination
Yet still I wonder
I ponder
What will they touch?
What do they smell like?
Clean, sweet, musk, and spice
These sultry words might not be nice
My nose twitches at the sensuality of the thought
A word
A phrase
Punctuation
Fluctuation that carries each syllable’s weight
The naked truth of each statement we say
Words were meant to play
To tease
To be freed
They were meant to speak
Each flick of a tongue
Each slick lisp
Every rolled “R”
and every little lick
Syntax
Bravado
A whisper
A smirk beneath the words I say
A subtle punctuation within a tone or inflection
These words are a beautiful temptation.
Tantalizing, captivating, alluring
These words I crave
I long for
These words bear no trepidation
Words bare
