The Neighbors Think We're Making Love

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

[Verse]

Our hearts beat so loud it shakes the floor

Holding on to feelings we can't ignore

We're stuck in that hollow space between desire and fear

When I reach to touch your face I hesitate

everything moves slower when we contemplate

[Chorus]

The neighbors think we’re making love

Oh, the neighbors think we're making love

But we're just frozen with desperate desire

Not yet brave enough

To light the fire

Our hearts beat so loud

A rhythmic pulse pounding in sync

We're just lost in the space where we overthink

The neighbors think we're making love

[Verse 2]

Our fingers reach out to touch, but they never connect

Our breathing is as ragged as a storm before it lands

Baby, is this love, or are we just sinking in quicksand

I’m drowning in feelings for you that I can't understand

The blood rushes hot through my veins and It mocks my doubt

I’m five feet away, and my heart is screaming to break out

[Chorus]

The neighbors think we’re making love

Oh, the neighbors think we're making love

But we're just frozen with desperate desire

Not yet brave enough

To light the fire

Our hearts beat so loud

A rhythmic pulse pounding in sync

We're just lost in the space where we overthink

The neighbors think we're making love

But we're just frozen with desperate desire
