For Roots and Branches

I am from a quiet place.

It is a place where the land holds every memory.

Roots extend beneath the surface there,

much like stories that endure over time,

serving as threads of memory

and threads of growth.

Roots demonstrate the importance of stillness before action,

the pause that precedes any new beginning.

They remind us that growth starts

in unseen places,

well before it becomes visible to others.

Roots remain secure during challenges

that arise unexpectedly,

and persist through difficult times.

Branches, however,

represent a spirit of restlessness.

They reach outward without hesitation.

They grow from a stable foundation

and extend toward new possibilities.

They adapt to changing conditions,

embracing curiosity,

and facing uncertain futures

that hold potential and opportunity.

Between roots and branches,

the trunk stands

the now,

serving as a living connection

between our past

and our future.

It reminds us that we are shaped by both memory

and possibility.

We establish strong foundations

so we can reach higher.

We remain grounded

so we can move forward.

By staying grounded,

we are able to grow resiliently.

This may be the true achievement:

that every life is dynamic,

stable at its foundation,

adaptable at its boundaries,

carrying the influence of the past

and the promise of the future.

Roots provide stability.

Branches inspire ambition.

In the space between them,

we discover what it means

to be connected to our origins

while still striving for growth.
