She opened just enough,

a space—she thought he’d rest in.

The care she offered him,

something he could believe in.

His world he gifted openly,

a place that he kept hidden.

He asked her to share his life,

but she faulted for a minute.

Unsure of what she’d heard,

the trust that he was giving.

She shared her day to bide her time,

a pause that she had needed.

The words that followed

she now regrets—

retreating and heartbroken.

Taking moments I disappeared, and unlearning all my fears.

Still finding my voice, happly learning out loud.
