She opened just enough,
a space—she thought he’d rest in.
The care she offered him,
something he could believe in.
His world he gifted openly,
a place that he kept hidden.
He asked her to share his life,
but she faulted for a minute.
Unsure of what she’d heard,
the trust that he was giving.
She shared her day to bide her time,
a pause that she had needed.
The words that followed
she now regrets—
retreating and heartbroken.
