The Rage Within

Manifested by the Full Moon

By Heather LopezPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Riding through the city

Proud and high

Millions of people passing us by

Minuscule and scared of us

as if mere ants

Sprinting in sync

a terror-filled dance

We are mad

We will kill

We only see red

The humans jump fences

Who fear being dead

Dancing together to move out of our way

To avoid being mauled

They run for the bay

Jumping into the water below

Swimming and screaming

Nowhere else to go

They conjured up the adrenaline sought

Chose to be victims

Perhaps they forgot

We are mad

We have killed

The city is red

The people around us

All lying dead

The place is Pamplona

The moon bright and full

Stay away from me atop my revenge-seeking bull

I wake up in a sweat

Heart pounding with rage

Helpless to protect

The bull in his cage

surreal poetry
