The Time Is Now Right

Excited for the future

The road calls her name in the whisper of the wind,

Spellbound upon mountain ranges and views a mile wide,

Dark clouds still hover but move on along,

Trees wave goodbye from the dusty roadside.

**

The purr of the engine lulls the bulk of her worries,

A feminine voice telling her which highway to roam,

A favourite song boosts her emotions,

Or a voice of reasoning extends from her phone.

**

Freedom is addictive to one with a devastating past,

Is she running from the pain?

Or moving forward towards happiness at damn last?

Time will tell all, revealing the truth.

**

Is there one awaiting with bated breath for her to appear?

The opportunity is open for arms that’ll hold her tight,

Encasing her heart protectively, shoring up the cracks,

Showing her how it is when love gets it right!

**

Or is she destined to drive the backroads forever alone?

No! She believes, out there, there is so much more,

He whose been waiting; patiently, quietly,

Letting her bury her past and firmly lock that rotten door.

**

She’ll roll with the times, slowly moving towards her future,

Come be what it may,

Warmed by the sun, cooled by the breeze,

Living each precious moment gifted to her today.

**

She’ll see this beautiful land in which she’s been born,

Wander the out of way places that bring joy to her heart,

Walk the trails of trials and tribulations,

And honour every monumental occasion she’s gifted to be part.

**

For today is just the beginning of a better life,

Troubles left with yesterday as she lays her weary head tonight,

She’s ready — bring it on!

She’ll saviour all this world has to offer; the time is now right.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
